Just a run through of the filters I own and how you can apply them to the Powershot SX40 HS. Filters are great fun and also an ideal way to protect that fragile lens from any form of damage. I bought the filter adapter through amazon but the provider is powerplanet.co.uk, if you go to their site it will divert you through to Amazon. The lens adaptor is the LA-58SX30. You can type that straight into amazon and it will show up :) Since making this video, many people have bought 67mm filters rather than the 58mm. Canon offer this as the main filter so it's an idea to go with Canons advice. I already owned many 58mm filters so it makes sense for me to get that one. Both work but you may be able to stack more filters without cropping with the 67mm. Tokyo, a city of 30 million, is a place where traditions and modern inventions live together. From the Tokyo Tower one can see only skyscrapers, palaces made of concrete and glass, multi-level highway junctions and monorail expresses. But under the neon lights there are still rickshaw runners pulling their carts and geishas walking in their wooden shoes. The ornamented pagodas, the Japanese gardens, the calm Shintoist sanctuaries tell us about the age of shoguns and ninjas. The digital cameras and the swords of the samurais can be found at the same store. In the restaurants one can have sushi, sukiyaki and tempura sitting on a tatami, using chopsticks. We can take a look at the masterpieces of ikebana and origami and the pictures painted on rice paper. Travelers can take a trip to the ancient city of Kyoto, to the giant Buddha of Kamakura, to the warm springs and to the Sacred Mountain, Fujiyama, where the cherry trees are blossoming at the foot of the hills.

while trying to get video of a wild octopus, it suddenly dashed towards me and rips my shiny new camera from out of my hands, then swims off, all while the camera is recording! he swam away very quickly like a naughty shoplifter. after a 5 minute chase, I placed my speargun underneath him and he quickly and curiously grabbed hold of the gun as well, giving me enough time to reach in and grab the camera from out of his mouth. Most digital cameras take excellent daylight photo's but how many can say they can actually take photo's at night, HANDHELD, and have them come out as anything other than streaks of light? Here a variety of shots are presented but it is the night pics and movie that demonstrate why in only two weeks I have come to love this camera. Night shots taken in night handheld mode, yes resting on rail but stills taken from a moving ship of moving boats. Night movie sailing into FLL 5:30 in morning. You will lose something making this a movie but even doing that you can see how well this camera does.

A new hobby of mine, that moon is so pretty! I hope everyone can get good results of it and I apologise for how hard it is to see what I'm doing. Two cameras in the dark zoomed in to full was very difficult to juggle :) I also realise that, whilst I advise to use an ISO of around 400, during the video I actually use an ISO of 100. The important thing to remember is that the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture all affect the light that is let into an image. So whilst I may have a low ISO in this image, I also had a fairly slow shutter speed. It's a lot easier to use a quicker shutter speed with a higher ISO if you don't have a tripod. We started producing tutorials with the grand scheme of starting up a DSLR Film School. Life happened, work happened and we never really finished it. Please read the entire description before attempting this process! Dust, hairs and pollen can easily get "sucked" into the lens as the camera initialises and the barrel extends. They manifest themselves as out of focus dark areas on the image and they do not change size or position as you zoom the camera lens. In most instances any "sensor" specks of dirt actually occur from the dust settling on infra red filter which is before the CCD itself. To clean the IR filter and the CCD the camera back and inside plates have to be removed before you can gain access. This video shows you how to perform this operation, clean the IR and CCD and then re-assemble the camera. Using a dust blower will generally remove the dust specs, however if the camera has been used in dust enviroments or in high air pollution such as cities then there is also a possibility of a "film" of contamination also on the surface of the IR filter. Using my technique of the cotton bud removes the film thus restoring any lack of contrast due to this film. If you IR filter comes out of the holder on re-installation put the IR filter into the small recess in the lens housing, then the small rubber boot with the widest part uppermost on the IR filter and then gently place the CCD block back on top of the boot and proceed to tighten it down as per video. I make the statement that although this is a simple task, you undertake this at your own risk and I can accept no responsibility if you "brick" your camera by ...

Hydrogen Oxygen has an adiabatic flame temperature of about 3000 degrees kelvin, thats about half the temperature of the surface of the Sun. Question is... just for fun, can you put that into a pop bottle! Previously I've shown other fuel air burns, one similar to that used in most internal combustion engines (butane air), and the other as one of the more common rocket fuels (hydrogen oxygen). Both release lots of energy when they burn, which is of course what makes them suitable as fuels. The hydrogen oxygen burn though is particularly fascinating as it only produces water as an 'exhaust', further it produces very little water! Indeed to fill a bottle with hydrogen and oxygen you only need to turn about 0.5g of water into H2 and O2, and of course when you burn it you only recreate that half gram of water. To make life even more interesting, to actually do the electrolysis I use a 12 volt Li-ion polymer battery, very similar to those used in most laptops today, simply so folk can visualise in a very simple way the energy content in these everyday objects. Indeed the energy content is significantly higher as only a fraction of the energy I draw from this battery actually goes into creating the H2 and O2, while probably the majority goes into heating up the electrolysis solution. Now when H2 and O2 burn, there is actually a reduction in the number of molecules of gas, which would, if all other conditions were the same actually produce a reduction in pressure, however the ...
